Things You Can Do to Boost Your Morale

Being a Social Media Manager can be stressful. You have to deal with a lot of different clients with a lot of different expectations. Most days it’s a breeze but when deadlines pile up and self doubt creeps in - what do you do then? Here’s my take on it.

Get out of the house! As a social media manager who works from home, I often feel closed off and isolated. So when stress creeps in, the comfort of my own home turns into a dungeon like feeling. That’s why I make it a habit to just pack up my laptop and go to a café to have a change of scene. It may be a bit more chaotic but you feel like you’re a part of a bigger world that your problems become easier to let go and not think about.

Make a motivation board. Pinterest is my saviour for times when I’m looking for some inspiration or motivation or both. I just type in quotes for motivation and I’m pinning away and giving myself some positivity. The best part is I can go back to those pins when days like this strike again.

Write your heart out. One proven thing for me to get me out of the funk is to write about something that I think can be of value to my future self. I have a journal and if you don’t have one you can just get a piece of paper or whip out a document in your computer and just write down your thoughts. It may seem pointless but trust me you’ll feel better after seeing your thoughts on paper.

Organize your to-do’s. I know this may not work for some but for me it always seems to keep me grounded and calm. I have a Trello board and most of the time, when I’m stressed out or in a hurry, it’s all over the place. So when I feel agitated I often find myself organising it and cleaning out tasks that I can postpone and need to do urgently. And when I see it laid out neatly I feel like everything’s going to work out!

Coffee, milk tea or massage. Nothing beats talking with friends over coffee or milk tea (a popular drink in Asia). Then if your schedule permits it, get a massage and I’m telling you, you’ll feel like a new person ready to take on the world right after.

Sleep it off. If all else fails, just sleep. I find that a little nap can do wonders for me and when I wake up I have a lot more energy to tackle the things I need to do and want to do.

I know that most people have at one point done some of these suggestions to fight off stress. But hopefully, you pick up something new here that will allow you to become motivated in your day to day battle as a Social Media Manager or work from home person!

Ciao!
